About YukonDocs

YukonDocs was founded by the Yukon Medical Association and is dedicated to strengthening Yukon’s physician workforce through coordinated, recruitment and retention efforts. We work to ensure that every Yukon community has access to compassionate, high-quality physician care by attracting doctors who are committed to building meaningful careers in the North.

Through collaboration, strategic partnerships, and system-level leadership, YukonDocs supports sustainable recruitment solutions that address the unique needs of rural, remote, and Indigenous communities. Our focus is not only on bringing physicians to the Yukon — but on helping them thrive here long-term.

Vision Statement

A healthier Yukon where every community thrives with accessible, compassionate, and exceptional physician care — strengthened by coordinated recruitment and retention efforts, community partnerships, and a shared commitment to equity and sustainability.

Mission Statement

To strengthen Yukon’s physician workforce through focused recruitment, coordinated territorial efforts, strategic partnerships, and system-level advocacy that supports long-term retention and equitable access to care across the North.

Organization Background

YukonDocs was established in December 2021 by the Yukon Medical Association (YMA) to combat the severe physician recruitment challenges the Yukon was facing. It begun as a wellness initiative to support YMA physicians in securing coverage for short-term vacations and leaves. YukonDocs has since expanded to provide a coordinated approach for all physician recruitment across the territory. Recognizing the distinct challenges of delivering healthcare in northern and rural regions, the organization works closely with communities, health system partners, and government to align recruitment efforts and strengthen long-term retention.

Our organization plays a key role in:

YukonDocs understands that successful recruitment goes beyond filling vacancies. It requires fostering connection, purpose, and belonging — ensuring physicians and their families feel welcomed, supported, and inspired to make the Yukon home.

Carly Cox

Director of Physician Recruitment

Carly played a vital role in making my application for a locum in the Yukon seamless and straightforward. I have done locums in other jurisdictions in Canada, and I can say in comparison the onboarding process for my locum in the Yukon went very smoothly. – Dr. Coholan
