What drew you to practice medicine in the Yukon?
- I came to Whitehorse as a foreign worker from Beijing and worked as an acupuncturist with my husband in 1991. We had facing many challenges with immigration department. The warm support we received from Yukon citizens had helped us to gain the permanent resident status in Canada. Through this immigration status process, we made deep friendships with local people. Once I had gained my qualification as a family physician in Canada, I had never had the desire to work at other places besides Yukon.
What do you love most about working here?
- Working at all scope of family medicine and working at a variety of settings which is never boring.
How do you like to unwind after a long shift?
- I like go hiking and take my camera on the trail. It doesn’t take long for me to enter the forest or alpine. I always find rejuvenation by the beauty of nature.
What's one thing - either healthcare related or not - you learned in the last month?
- ICM: intentional Camera Movement. I like to see the dream world camera can bring me in.
What's the next place on your travel bucket list?
- Antarctica.
