The Mayo Health Centre is open from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm during weekdays and is staffed with nurses practicing in an expanded scope, with rotating nurse call 24/7/365. Pharmacy services are limited to emergencies only with medication refills being mailed out or picked up in person from one of the Whitehorse pharmacies.
Limited point of care testing and x-rays for both acute chest and limbs can be performed on site. Labs are drawn and sent to Whitehorse General Hospital on a weekly basis, with all other diagnostics being referred out. The Mayo Health Centre also has Telehealth capabilities. Ambulance services are provided by Emergency Medical Responders 24/7/365 on a volunteer basis.
Under contract, each physician will provide a minimum of 7.5 hours for three consecutive days of clinic time, for a total of 22.5 hours per trip. Visiting clinics occur twice a month, with physicians rendering services no later than 5:15pm daily. We are looking for a second physician to share providing services during these visiting clinics and to provide service in Mayo once a month. Physicians would work together and with the Nurse in charge on scheduling to ensure adequate coverage for the visiting clinics. Limited virtual visits to augment in-person visits may be available.
