EXPRESSION OF INTEREST – Visiting Family Physician- Carmacks
Position Summary
Location: Carmacks Health Centre
Service: Primary Care Services
Schedule: 12 outreach visits annually, 2 clinic days/trip, clinic hours 8:00 am–4:30 pm.
Rate: $ 235.75 per hour
On Call: N/A
Travel: Mileage, accommodations, per diems and travel time reimbursed
Opportunity Overview
A contracted visiting family physician providing scheduled outreach primary care services to the Carmacks Health Centre through approximately 12 community visits per year, with associated indirect patient care, care coordination, chart review, follow-up, and collaboration with Community Nursing staff.
Program Description
The Carmacks Health Centre provides comprehensive primary care services to residents of Carmacks and the surrounding region. The visiting physician provides scheduled outreach clinics, direct and indirect patient care, chronic disease management, preventative care, care coordination, review of diagnostic results, and collaboration with Community Nursing staff to support continuity of care. Services are delivered in accordance with the scope outlined by Yukon Health and Social Services.

Compensation
Schedule
- 12 trips/year, 2 days/trip, clinic hours 8:00 am –4:30 pm
Other Expenses
- Mileage, accommodations, per diems, and travel time are reimbursed in accordance with the contract and applicable Government of Yukon policies.
Start date and term
- We are looking for a General Practitioner to start as soon as possible and contract to March 31, 2028
Time Commitment
- Approximately 180 hours annually, including direct patient care, indirect patient care, care coordination, chart review, and follow-up activities.
Eligibility Requirements
- Ability to meet the following conditions are contractual requirements and are required in advance of the contract start date.
- Licensure with the Yukon Medical Council

Qualifications
Education and Licensing:
- Eligible for licensure with the Yukon Medical Council
- Maintain membership with the Canadian Medical Protective Association
Expected Skills and Abilities
- Collaborative and committed to working within a multidisciplinary team environment
- Ability to provide comprehensive family medicine in a rural setting
- Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills
- Experience managing acute and chronic medical conditions across the lifespan
- Ability to work independently with remote support and consultation resources
- Effective communication and patient-centred care skills
- Cultural humility and culturally safe practice
- Strong clinical documentation and care coordination skills
