Summer GP Oncologist Locum Needed
The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in general practice with specialized training and experience in oncology. As a GP Oncologist, you will play a key role in providing personalized care to patients with cancer, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, and participating in the development and implementation of innovative treatment plans.
Locum Dates: 4-8 weeks between June-Aug 2025 (flexible between this timeframe)
Clinic Hours:
- Monday-Thursday - seeing 5-10 patients per day
- Remunerated by an hourly rate of $256.87/hour
Responsibilities:
- Conducting thorough assessments and evaluations of patients with suspected or diagnosed cancer.
- Developing comprehensive treatment plans tailored to the individual needs of patients, considering factors such as diagnosis, stage of cancer, and patient preferences.
- Providing ongoing monitoring, follow-up care, and support to patients undergoing cancer treatment.
- Collaborating closely with oncologists, surgeons, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated and integrated care.
- Educating patients and their families about treatment options, and supportive care services.
Qualifications:
- Qualified as a GPO in Canada and eligible to obtain licensure in the Yukon Territory.
- Ideally famailliar with BCCA systems
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and teamwork abilities.
- Commitment to providing patient-centered care with empathy and compassion.
- Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic healthcare environment.
