Walk In Clinic Physician
Program Description
- The Whitehorse Walk-in Clinic (WWIC) provides timely access to primary health care for Yukoners who do not currently have a primary care provider. The WWIC offers care for non-urgent conditions for Yukoners who do not have a dedicated primary care provider.
- The successful candidate(s) will work as members of a collaborative health care team, providing same-day primary health care, as well as consultation services and case review support to Nurse Practitioners.
- The WWIC is comprised of a clinic manager, nurse practitioners, contract physicians, licensed practical nurses, a social worker, a contract pharmacist, and medical office assistants.
- The WWIC provides point-of-care services for clients and mental health counselling support.
- The WWIC has moved to its permanent location at Mah’s Point (108 Jarvis unit 103). This location includes a waiting room, reception area, private clinic rooms, and a general shared office space for primary care practitioners and allied health professionals.
- The WWIC is open to hosting medical residents, medical students, and nurse practitioner students.
- The WWIC is open 9am - 5:30pm Monday to Wednesday, and 9am – 4:30pm Thursday and Friday. There are no on-call requirements for this position.

Remuneration
Shadow Billing
- All contracted physicians are required to shadow bill for services provided through the WWIC’s Plexia
Start date and term
- Starting ASAP to March 31, 2026
- Long-term commitment preferred
Time Commitment
- Consistent hours during WWIC opening hours
- Quarter time 1 day/week on average
- Part time 2-3 days/week on average
- Full time 4-5 days/week on average
Contract conditions
- Ability to meet the following conditions are a contractual requirement and are required in advance of the contract start date.
- Licensure with the Yukon Medical Council - information about licensing is available here
- Community provider privileges from Yukon Hospital Corporation - information about privileging is available here
Qualifications
Education and Licensing:
- Eligible for licensure with the Yukon Medical Council
- Eligible for community provider privileges with the Yukon Hospital Corporation
- Maintain membership with the Canadian Medical Protective Association
Skills and Abilities:
- Demonstrated commitment to and ability to work in a collaborative care/team-based model
- Demonstrated history of positive engagement with interdisciplinary teams
- Demonstrated knowledge of trauma-informed and anti-racist approaches, as well as commitment to cultural safety and humility
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with allied health professionals
Selection Process
- Selection decisions will involve a review of all skills and abilities listed above. The selection process may include references and a meeting to discuss practice philosophy and fit within clinic operations.
