Dr. Haroon Mian
How long have you worked in the Yukon?
What Yukon communities have you worked in?
What drew you to practice medicine in the Yukon?
- I came here as a resident to get out of my comfort zone in Toronto and I enjoyed every moment of it. The ability to practice great medicine and be surrounded by the outdoors, was phenomenal. When I graduated, Watson Lake was the first community I came to. I kept extending my locum contracts to the point I just had to sign full time, as my wife and I were enjoying every moment of the experience.
What do you love most about working here?
- I love the ability to practice full scope family medicine to a remote community who are super welcoming and appreciative of your care. Also, I feel the comradery we have with our interprofessional colleagues across the territory allows us to deliver great care. As a first year grad, I consistently feel super supported. Everyday I am learning something new and just feel passionate about the care we deliver.
