Job Posting: Locum Child Psychiatrist

The Lynx Health Clinic, a modern and welcoming facility, is seeking a Locum Child Psychiatrist to provide coverage for a maternity leave.

Role Overview

We are seeking a locum Child Psychiatrist to work alongside a collaborative team of pediatricians, working in a supportive and collegial environment. Responsibilities will include outpatient consultations, follow-ups, and collaboration with pediatric and mental health professionals. Support from adult psychiatry is available as needed.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide psychiatric care for patients ranging from infants and preschool-aged children to transitional-age youth, with a primary focus on school-aged children and adolescents.
• Conduct approximately four new consultations per week (2-hour appointments) and associated follow-ups (1-hour appointments), with flexibility based on referral volume.
• Integrate administrative time into the clinical day as required.
• Participate in daytime hospital call coverage (8:30 AM – 4:00 PM, Monday–Friday), on a consultative basis only. No responsibility for admissions/discharges, and no weekend call.
• Collaborate with pediatricians, adult psychiatrists, mental health therapists, and social workers.
• Support the local therapy team through occasional phone consultations to provide guidance.
• Review results, triage referrals, and support interdisciplinary care planning.

Typical Schedule

• Monday–Friday outpatient clinic (8:30 AM – 4:00 PM).
• Hospital coverage during the same hours, on a consultative (non-MRP) basis.
• No evening or weekend shifts required.

Team & Supports

• Two dedicated MOAs and one social worker/mental health clinician.
• Close collaboration with Pediatrics.
• Ongoing support from a visiting Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist, who provides telehealth and fly-in clinics every few months, as an additional resource.
