Visiting Physician Family Medicine

Locum Opportunity – Faro & Ross River, Yukon

November 2-6, 2026 | 5 Day Locum

The Government of Yukon is seeking a locum physician to provide visiting physician services to the communities of Faro and Ross River between Nov 2-6, 2026. Flexible scheduling is available.

Program Description

  • The Faro and Ross River Health Centres operate weekdays from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm and are staffed with nurses practicing in an expanded scope, with rotating on-call nursing coverage available 24/7/365. Limited point-of-care testing and x-rays for acute chest and limb presentations are available on site, with telehealth support also available.
  • Under contract, the physician will provide a minimum of 7.5 hours per day for four or five consecutive clinic days, split evenly between the two communities. Half days may be considered to allow weekday travel. Services conclude no later than 5:15 pm daily.
  • This opportunity is ideal for physicians interested in rural and remote medicine within a collaborative multidisciplinary environment.

Remuneration

  • $243.07/hour while physically located in the community and providing direct or indirect patient care
  • $200/hour for indirect or follow-up care completed remotely (maximum 10 hours/month)
  • Travel time compensation up to $2,500 per trip

Additional Expenses Covered

  • Mileage reimbursement as per Yukon Government Travel Directive
  • Per diem during travel
  • Accommodation reimbursement (or community nursing housing when available)
  • Plexia coverage reimbursement

Applicants must:

  • Be eligible for licensure with the Yukon Medical Council
  • Maintain CMPA coverage
  • Have experience providing physician services in rural or remote settings
  • Demonstrate collaborative practice skills within multidisciplinary teams
